Precautions for use and maintenance of silicon carbide rods
1. Silicon carbon rods are hard and brittle in texture, so
special care should be taken when moving them. They should be
handled gently, placed with care, and strictly guarded against
mechanical strikes to avoid breakage. 2. The gap between the
silicon carbide rod and the insertion hole should be filled with
refractory fiber cotton, but not too tightly. After passing through
the rod holes on both sides (or up and down) of the furnace wall,
it should be freely rotated 360 degrees to prevent forced
installation and tapping. Before installing the rod, a test tube
with the same diameter as the rod end can be used for trial
installation. 3.When installing aluminum braided strips and clips,
do not come into contact with the fireplace to avoid short
circuits, and leave a certain gap between the aluminum braided
strips to prevent thermal expansion and contraction from breaking
the silicon carbide rod. 4. The use of gate type silicon carbide
rods must be equipped with voltage regulating transformers or
controllable silicon voltage regulators, as well as voltage,
current meters, and temperature automatic control instruments.
During use, the resistance gradually increases due to the oxidation
of the rod. To protect the normal temperature of the furnace, the
operating voltage should be increased. When the voltage reaches the
higher limit of the transformer used but still does not meet the
requirements, the furnace can be shut down and the wiring method of
the rod can be changed before continuing to use. According to the
regulations, the resistance of the component increases to four
times its original value, and even if the component continues, its
life is considered to have ended. 5. When the new furnace starts to
be powered on, in order to prevent rod breakage, it should use 1/2
of the rated power of the resistance furnace for a period of time,
and gradually increase the voltage after everything is normal. The
temperature should be raised according to the electric furnace
heating specifications to avoid bursting the silicon carbide rods
due to excessive power.
