Long-Lasting and Reflective Thermoplastic Paint for Road Markings
and Industrial Coatings
Product
Description
Thermoplastic paint is a polymer-based coating that melts when
heated and hardens on cooling, forming a durable, reversible film.
Used for road markings and industrial coatings, it includes resins,
pigments, and additives, offering longevity and reflectivity. Composition of Thermoplastic Paint Resins (20-30%): Binders (e.g., polyethylene, alkyd) for adhesion and durability. Glass Beads (10-30%): For reflectivity. Pigments (5-10%): Titanium dioxide (white), organic pigments (colors). Fillers (30-50%): Calcium carbonate, sand for bulk and anti-skid. Additives (1-5%): Plasticizers, UV stabilizers for flexibility and longevity.
Application Methods Hot-Applied: Powdered thermoplastic is heated to ~200°C (392°F) in a kettle
and applied via spray, screed, or extrusion for road markings. Preformed Thermoplastic: Pre-cut shapes (e.g., arrows, letters) are heated with a torch or
heat gun and bonded to surfaces, ideal for symbols or small areas. Liquid Thermoplastic: Cold-applied, waterborne versions are sprayed for easier
application, though less common. Surface Prep: Surfaces must be clean, dry, and sometimes primed (e.g., for
concrete or old asphalt) to ensure adhesion.
Key Advantages for Applications Durability: Lasts 4-10 times longer than traditional paints, reducing
maintenance costs. Reflectivity: Glass beads enhance night and wet-weather visibility. Anti-Skid: Additives improve traction, critical for pedestrian and vehicle
safety. Fast-Drying: Sets in minutes, ideal for high-traffic areas. Eco-Friendly Options: Low-VOC or recyclable formulations available.
Applications of Thermoplastic Paint Road Markings: Durable, reflective lines for highways, intersections, and cycle
paths. Car Parks: Parking bays, arrows, and safety zones with long-lasting designs. Playgrounds: Colorful, anti-skid patterns for games and educational markings. Airfields: Runway and taxiway lines resistant to jet fuel and weather. Industrial Sites: Warehouse aisles, hazard zones, and safety markings. Urban Areas: Decorative streetscapes, bike lanes, and traffic calming
markings. Special Uses: Marine coatings or temporary event markings.
