WL-AD3953 is an aqueous hydroxy-functional polyacrylic dispersion
specifically formulated for coating applications on metal
substrates, including basecoats, topcoats, and clearcoats. This
hydroxylated acrylic dispersion serves as a direct replacement for
Bayhydrol A2470 when used in combination with complementary resin
systems from our product line.
Key characteristics include:
- Crosslinking capability with aliphatic polyisocyanates to form
high-gloss finishes
- Flexible curing options: ambient temperature drying or accelerated
curing at 80°C
- Exceptional film properties:
- Balanced hardness and elasticity
- Superior resistance to solvents, water, and environmental exposure
- Performance advantages:
- Rapid hardness development
- High threshold for bubble-free film formation
- Broad chemical resistance
- Excellent compatibility with solvent-borne isocyanate crosslinkers
The cured coating system demonstrates outstanding durability for
industrial applications requiring both aesthetic appeal and
long-term protection. Typical uses include automotive refinish,
industrial maintenance coatings, and metal packaging finishes where
regulatory-compliant, waterborne solutions are preferred.

Application Guidelines
When combining with solvent-based isocyanate curing agents:
- Dilution Requirement: First dilute the dispersion to 60-70% concentration using
suitable co-solvents (e.g., BGA, PGDA, or PMA+DBE blend at 1:2
ratio)
- Mixing Protocol:
- Thoroughly blend main resin component and curing agent after
combination
- Ideal mixing method: Use mechanical stirring equipment (pneumatic
or electric stirrer)
- Water Content Control:
- Limit water dilution: Recommended ≤5% of main resin component
- Absolute maximum: ≤10% of main resin component
(Exceeding 10% causes gloss reduction)
- Stability Precautions:
- Avoid resin participation in pigment grinding processes
- Grinding operations introduce multiple instability factors
- May compromise dispersion stability during color paste preparation
