Cold pilfering is a longitudinal cold-rolling process that reduces the diameter and wall thickness of a metal tube in one process step. Depending on the material, the cold Pilger process achieves cross-section reductions of more than 90 percent in a single working cycle. Cold pilfering is a rolling process, which processes many different materials, such as stainless steel, low-alloy steels, zircaloy, copper, and titanium alloys. The produced tubes stand out from the portfolio of tubes and pipes as they are formed by a special cold forming process. This reduces diameter and wall-thickness at the same time and achieves the closest outer diameter and wall thickness tolerances.
