This leakage tracking tester is meticulously designed and
manufactured in strict accordance with the standard requirements of
IEC60112, IEC60335 - 1, IEC60598 - 1, UL746A, and ASTM D3638 - 92.
The working principle of the leakage tracking test (tracking index
testing) is as follows: A specific volume of conducting liquid
(0.1% NH₄CL) is made to drop from a specified height (35mm) within
a set time (30s). This occurs with a certain voltage applied
between the platinum electrodes (2mm × 5mm) on the surface of the
solid insulating material. Through this process, users can assess
the tracking resistance performance of the solid insulating
material's surface under the combined effects of an electric field
and a humid or contaminated medium. In essence, this device is
employed to measure the Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) and the
Proof Tracking Index (PTI).
To ensure the electrodes maintain the appropriate distance, a gauge
block is provided with the instrument. The table height can be
easily adjusted, which helps in ensuring the correct angle of the
electrodes and the height of the liquid drops. The remainder of the
test is controlled from outside the test chamber with the door
closed. Parameters such as voltage, limiting current, drip rate,
and the number of drips can all be set on the control panel. During
the test, an operator needs to observe whether a flame ignites. If
there is a tracking failure lasting at least two seconds, the
instrument will sound an alarm.
