With this in mind, we developed an entry-level product for the panel industry—WEEM 1125 SIC XY-CLOTH ABRASIVE. It is built with fast-cutting silicon carbide grains, resin over resin bonding, and a closed coat on a stiff XY-weight polyester backing—all while keeping costs low.

Silicon carbide is a very hard abrasive with a crystalline structure that delivers sharp, straight-edged grind lines. It excels in applications requiring light cutting pressure and is commonly used on non-ferrous materials such as brass, copper, bronze, wood, glass, rubber, and plastics. It is also suitable for finishing polyurethanes, primers, lacquers, and sealers.

The closed-coat construction provides a high density of abrasive points per square inch, ensuring faster material removal and longer product life—typically resulting in a better surface finish.
