Centronics connectors have a plastic rod in the center of the
connector body that holds the contact pins. The connector body is
usually black or blue. Centronics 50-pin connectors are arranged in two rows of pins with 25 contacts each and are most commonly used in older SCSI-1 devices (scanners, storage devices, etc.). Centronics 36-pin connectors are arranged in two rows of pins with 18 contacts per pin. The connector is held in place by a bail lock. 36pin connectors are often used in parallel applications, especially printers. A splice (or splice for short) is a type of electrical connector. Male headers consist of one or more rows of metal pins molded into a plastic base, typically 2.54 mm (0.1 in) apart, but are available in a variety of pitches. [1] Male headers are cost-effective due to their simplicity. Female connectors are also sometimes called female receptacle headers, although male and female connectors are named in a variety of ways.
